Are you using Feedburner yet? Why not?

Feedburner, which was acquired a while back by Google, is basically one big toolbox for your feed management.

Your RSS feed is a simple file which is automatically generated by WordPress and most other “Web 2.0″ systems that publish content. The RSS feeds are a way for your users to follow the blogs/news sources they want, without having to visit the individual blogs or homepages several times a day.

The default feed created by WordPress is sufficient for most basic usage, but it is possible to spice it up a little bit, bringing in extra features which makes your feed more user-friendly and here are just a few:

  • Track your feed usage and know how many people are following your feed.
  • Make subscribing more user friendly using “BrowserFriendly”
  • Make your feed compatible for all known feed-readers
  • Automatically ping services when you have new content.
  • Allow people to sign up using e-mails instead.

There are simply too many great options and flexibility in Feedburner, so if you don’t use it already, start using it right now. The best part? Its totally free by the good people at Google.

I use it for my blog, but there are only a few people that reading my feed…how can i increase the traffic?

      Hi Bichareh

To get more people to read your feed, you should try to find what most interests your readers. Since my German is horrible (I have not used it regularly in the past 10 years), it is difficult for me to comment specifically on your blog.

You can use the SEO Booster PRO plugin to export a list of keywords that your visitors use to find your blog, and focus on those most used, and add more content related to those keywords. That will bring in more targeted visitors, and increase your chances of gaining more RSS readers.

Also, remember to engage in conversation with your readers. I try to always comment/respond to any comments made on mywordpress.com for instance, and that will bring commenters back, and eventually even make them subscribe to my RSS feed.

(You should take a look at the Subscribe To Comments – plugin, where people can sign up to automatically get an e-mail if anyone responds to their comments, like you will when I enter this response).

I hope these observations can help you in any way.
