myVideoPoster Admin Sneak Peek

Today I would like to show you how the upcoming plugin, myVideoPoster, looks behind the scenes. Lets take a look at the interface first:

As you can see, the administration is a simple as possible, yet it contains all the functionality needed to make it flexible to suit your exact blog requirements.

First of all, the RUN NOW button is available only when you have turned on the plugin, and you can use it to test your settings or to force new content on to your blog.

By clicking on the RUN NOW button, you will see a small overview of what happened such as below:

Let’s take a look at the other features/options you can change in the administration section of this WordPress Plugin.

• Active/not active checkbox.
• Amount of posts/timing is easily set via two pulldowns.
• RSS Feeds. Copy-paste your list of RSS feeds to monitor and post from
• Check first if video is disabled. Have myVideoPoster check if the video is allowed to be embedded on external sites. Some Youtube users do not wish to have their videos embedded on external sites, turning this feature on lets myVideoPoster check for this first. (Note: this takes extra bandwith, time and processing power to check).
• Post Status. Publish immediately or create draft posts. This enables you to review the posts myVideoPoster creates BEFORE publishing, or you can publish straight away.
• Post in Category. You can only choose a single category to post into, a feature in upcoming versions can be to choose category/categories for each individual RSS feed.
• Post as user. Choose which user to post as.
• Include Thumbnail in post. By turning this on, myVideoPoster automatically finds the thumbnail for the video, downloads, renames for better SEO (including removing the so called “stop words” in the name) and uploads on your own blog. This can bring in extra traffic from image searches.
• Include Video in Post. This might seem like an obvious ting to keep turned on at all times, but if you use a theme such as the eVid theme from Elegantthemes.com (aff). This theme requires you to post the embed code for the actual video in a custom field to work optimal. (See further down).
• Create comments. Want to add comments to the video? By turning this option on, myVideoPoster posts a random amount of comments from Youtube directly on your blog!
• Create Tags. Want to tag your videos? No problem, turn this feature on, and myVideoPoster uses Yahoo’s API to find relevant keywords.
• Limit to MAX tags. Afraid to tag-spam your blog? Simply set a limit for how many tags can be created for each post.
• Add Thumbnail Url. If your theme needs a special custom field to show your thumbnails, use this feature to have myVideoPoster automatically post the full url of your thumbmail to a custom field.
• Name of Custom Field. This is where you can set the name of the custom field to be created if you use above feature. Remember most themes that uses custom fields are case-sensitive, meaning “thumbnail” is not the same as “Thumbnail”.
• Add Embed Code. Same principled as the Thumbnail Url. By turning on this feature, myVideoPoster will create a custom field and post the full embed code into this custom field.
• Name of Custom Field. Enter the name of the custom field to contain the embed code.

   This is such a slick software – makes running a video site very easy as everything is automated for you.

   Constantly updating your site with your chosen video feeds; be it from a particular user (eg. Onion news) or genre (eg. comedy, music, videos) or both.
