A tool named DigMyLink has recently been released. The tool works as a plugin for FireFox, and although this blog is dedicated to WordPress along with developing, expanding and in many regards improving WordPress through plugins, the tool is actually very cleverly done, and works very well.
The author has created a small video to go along with the release of the tool, and I feel I can do his tool no justice without letting him explain a little about it himself.
The plugin clearly marks all internal and external links by green and red respectively, and when you mouse over any link, it provides you with some details about the link, such as the URL, the title, meta description tag and an excerpt of the content.
These information are relevant for optimizing your own internal link structure, and ensuring the links are properly named and are relevant. The author has also written a post about Analyzing your anchor text to target page, and the importance of this for better SEO rankings.
The plugin does not seem to be working 100% yet, as you can see from the following two screenshots. The screenshots shows the same window displaying stats about an internal url. Notice the description is different on both? The description changes on some urls while hovering the mouse over the link.
After a few seconds however, it picked up the correct title and description, this should in no way discourage you from trying out this excellent plugin, which the author provides as a FREE download.
Now, try installing this nice plugin and check it out for yourself, I will keep it active in my FireFox for a while more, I think it could turn out to be a pretty cool tool in my arsenal.
